Is This You?
You're standing at a fork you didn't expect, or one you saw coming for a long time and still don't feel ready for. Whatever got you here, you're used to knowing what to do next — and right now, you just don't.
You've been laid off or let go, and you're caught in all the feelings that come with that, unsure what to do next.
You've invested years in a career and are now wondering if you should continue because that's what's expected of you, or pivot into something that feels more aligned with who you are now.
You're getting closer to retirement and you're exploring options for your next chapter.
You're realizing the kids are getting older, and you're ready to explore new opportunities for yourself.
You're not in crisis — you're stuck, and stuck has started to feel like its own kind of exhausting.
If this sounds familiar, you're exactly who I work with.
What Life & Career Transitions Look Like in High-Functioning Adults
Life transitions in capable, high-functioning adults rarely look like falling apart. More often they look like:
Overthinking a decision that keeps circling back to the same place. You've built the pros-and-cons list. You've talked it through more than once. And you still feel no closer to an answer than when you started.
Staying somewhere out of habit and comfort, not conviction. A career, a relationship, a routine — you're not sure it's still right for you, but leaving feels riskier than staying, so you feel stuck defaulting to what's familiar.
Losing trust in your own judgment. You've made good decisions before. But this one feels bigger, or more uncertain, or harder to undo — and you feel less sure of yourself than you have in the past.
Whether it's a layoff that's forced the question, a career you've outgrown but feel obligated to stay in, retirement bringing up who you are without the job that's defined you, or an empty nest opening space you're not sure how to fill — the experience is the same. You're capable of handling this. But it feels harder than you anticipated.
How I Work With Transitions & The Other Challenges Life Throws Your Way
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — a structured, evidence-based approach focused on identifying what's actually keeping you stuck, not just talking around the decision until our session time runs out.
This work tends to be more present-focused and forward-moving than open-ended exploration. Together, we'll:
Get specific about what's actually making the decision hard — fear of the wrong choice, conflicting values, or a fear of regret that's louder than the facts of the situation
Separate what you actually want from what you think you're supposed to want
Build a clear, structured way to evaluate the decision, rather than replaying it on a loop
Track progress against clear, individualized goals, so moving forward is something you can see, not just hope for
What New Clients Should Know
Therapy here is active-change focused, not purely reflective. If you're looking for a space to process out loud with occasional insight, that's a valid approach — it's just not the one I offer. I work best with clients who are ready to build and practice new tools between sessions.
I don't provide crisis intervention or treat severe or persistent mental illness. If what you're experiencing includes symptoms beyond what's described here, I'm happy to talk during a consultation about whether this is the right fit or help point you toward a better one.
Ready To Get Started?
A free 15-minute consultation is the first step — we'll talk about what's bringing you in, and you'll get a feel for whether this approach is right for you.
